Styles & Trends: 2024 trend that is here to stay

Curves are here and they are here to stay! Curved furniture and accent pieces made an appearance back in 2023, but it was shy to make a huge statement until 2024. If you’re enjoying this trend, then you’re in luck because it is here to stay for a while. Curves and organic shapes bring a more inviting and calm sense to your space. More and more clients are leaning towards curved and organic pieces as opposed to linear and angled pieces in 2024.

This is one of my favorite stores to shop from. Shades of Light offers a multitude of decor & furniture items for your space. The reason I picked this piece was because of the warmth it brings. It has some very light detailing on the front side of it with some pulls that are making a big statement. While this is a modern piece, I could also see it paired in a space with boho, contemporary or chic styles as well. It also just reminds me of spring!

Tip of the Day: Tips for First time remodels

Remodels are a HUGE investment so it’s important to understand what you’re getting yourself into. The first thing I can recommend is to do your research! This ensures that you are taking into consideration whether or not your remodel ideas can even be pulled off. Professionals can usually tell you whether or not your vision is possible. The second thing would be to understand the timeline & budget of your remodel. Kitchen remodels can range depending on your space & what you want done. The timeline can look different on each project depending on what we run into when we’re tearing things out. Take into consideration that deign time is not included in the labor time. Gather your thoughts on what you want done and then bring in the professionals! This helps our process move quickly and smoothly.

Styles & trends: 2024 Color Trends

As you’re starting to think about hiring an interior designer, you’re probably wondering where to start? I like to start my process with trending colors. Just like fashion, the design world changes too! My favorite color trend coming to 2024 is MOODY BLACK. Black is Back! Some other trends that I’m loving and have been around for a bit are the warm earthy tones and the soothing blues. Other trends that make a bolder statement are you bold hues and alluring pinks or salmons. Shades of green are still very popular right now and pair well with your warm earthy tones. Lastly we have our “tone on tone” trend… or should I say monochromatic color scheme.

Tip of the Day:

When it comes to small empty corners, it can be really boring staring at blank walls. Being thoughtful about how you use the space is a good place to start. For instance, this photo is in an office space we designed. Why not have a comfy swivel chair to pull up when you have a guest? If this was a bedroom, the same type of configuration would work here too. This is our clients favorite chair in their house. The link below can take you to a similar find! Can staging a home improve selling?

I don’t care what anyone else tells you. This is the best thing you can do when selling a home. So many people watch their house sit on the market for months, when they could have hired an interior designer to come stage it for them. Did you know that a staged home bring in 1-10 percent more profit, spends 73 percent less time on the market AND a staged home increases your selling price from 1-10 percent. You’re kidding, right? NOPE! Our staging services are affordable and we have seen the benefits of this process with clients.

I love this round Black mirror because of the heaviness it portrays. It’s a chunky black frame with a black leather belt draping it. It makes such a statement in this bathroom and I love how the finish matches the faucets. As an amazon affiliate, I earn from qualifying purchases.

I’m really loving how the greenery adds to the hints of green in the furniture/ decor. In this monochromatic guest bedroom design, we used a lovely faux olive tree to accent exactly what we needed while adding a sense of serenity. tip of the day: Get your shelves to stand out!

I’ve seen this trend for years! When I first saw wallpaper behind shelves, I thought, wow what a cool concept and then I decided to use it in multiple projects. Providing depth in places that seem flat can develop an aesthetic that compliments the rest of the space without over bearing it. If your shelves seem boring or flat, try adding some subtle, but lovely patterned wallpaper to it!

Check it out: Daybeds

I wanted to share one of my favorite trends in Vacation Rental Design. One of the most successful ways to maximize your sleeping accommodations at a good price point is by using multi function furniture. One of my favorites happens to be Daybeds. They don’t take up as much space as your regular full size or bunk bed. They are compact, easy to use and usually very comfortable!

Styles & Trends

As we are saying goodbye to 2023, I have found that some trends this year are staying…and maybe for a while! One thing I’d like to mention is the use of mid century modern/ contemporary design. This is not only a timeless design style, but it can also provide for a good “base” when combining different style. In 2024 we’re going to see more “green living”, meaning the use of more greenery and natural light with the support of sustainable materials and furniture. Going with this concept, the “green living” trend is approaching more of a “curvilinear” look which provides unique and organic shapes/colors within the design.

tip of the day:

When it comes to window treatments, you want to make sure that your curtains are hung 4- 8 inches above the window frame. This gives the illusion that your window is much taller. You also want to consider how far from the side of the window as well. This is generally anywhere between 2- 8 inches depending on the layout. The more room you have between your curtains and the window, the bigger it will appear.

Tip of the Day: Lighting & Wall Treatments

Always check your paint swatches or wall treatments under the existing or new lighting in your space. Colors can look warmer or cooler under different lighting.

styles & Trends: organic materials and shapes

Going into 2023, I’ve pondered some of the trends to be aware of that will be more apparent in the design world for the next year. One of these trends is organic shapes and materials.

CHECK IT OUT: FURNITURE THAT CATCHES MY EYE

Catalogs are flying in from all our vendors lately. I recently had some time to browse through a few of them when I came across this piece. One of the trends in 2023 is organic furniture. I love this dresser! I could see it paired with some contemporary furniture or maybe a boho look. It could even go well with a chic or minimalist design. I’d pair this with other earth tones or contrasting colors.
